Gordon BurgettWhat Are You Going to Do With All Your Extra Years?
How to Plan a Great Second Life

Presented by Gordon Burgett

What are you going to do with your extra 30 years? It's true, just for being alive right now you’ll probably get an extraordinary gift—30 years more of living than our kin did back in 1900 when most were dead by age 50. Today, the majority of us will live past 80, and quite a few of us have a real chance to reach 100.

However, that bonanza of extra years can be a very long, sad bane if we don't plan ahead! Most of us Americans have a vague sense that we should set aside some surplus cash now so we’ll be comfortable later. Plus, we know that smoking, inactivity and poor dietary choices can lead to health problems. Yet, very few of us take the time to actually define our dreams and desires for these upcoming dream years and create a real plan to make those dreams come true.

Gordon Burgett wrote How to Plan a Great Second Life to help people reinvent themselves and create a full "second life," by injecting fun, purpose, and meaning into these bonus years. At Live to 100, Gordon will share his course of action on how you can plan out a new life, doing what you want when you want! He’ll show each of us, any age, single or paired, how to create our own future life maps. His straightforward method will help you:

  • Review where you are now regarding skills, money, and health.
  • Create a "Dream List."
  • Prioritize and time-peg those dreams.
  • Break down each dream into doable action steps.
  • Factor in the resources you have to fund them.
  • Put the resulting Action Plan into motion!

You’ll also receive a free, signed copy of Gordon’s book, How to Plan a Great Second Life to take home. It includes forms, charts, and worksheets that make planning your bonus years easy and fun.

Gordon Burgett, age 71, has given 2,000+ speeches, published 36 books, and has 1,700 articles in print. Is this author ready for the rocking chair? "Heavens no!" Gordon retorts. "I'm just getting my second wind..." During his first wind, Gordon was a university dean, taught widely, directed a CARE program in Colombia and Ecuador, played minor league baseball, led a gold hunt on the Paushi-Yaco (Upper Amazon) River, miraculously sunk three holes in one, and spoke at least 100 times annually for more than 20 years. "We're going to grow old anyway," Gordon says, "so why not take control? The real issue is whether we choose pro-action or re-action. An exciting, productive, sharing second life doesn't just happen on its own. We must take the reins!”
